Kentucky
Kentucky is arguably one of the fastest growing wine and winery states in the country. At last count, there are about 30 wineries and the numbers are expected to increase this decade, with a number of new wineries in the planning stages.
Grapes thrive here in many varieties, and vineyards and wineries are popping up in all areas of the state. Warm days, cool nights, and the absence of lengthy deep freeze winters make grape growing a viable pursuit.
There is a complete list of Kentucky wineries at the Kentucky Vineyard Society page, along with all sorts of information about wine production in Kentucky.
To date, no official wine trails have been designated in Kentucky, but we expect this to happen in the near future. The state has been highly successful with their unique Bourbon Trail, so wine trails shouldn’t be too far behind!
